On Saturday, January 31, 2009 at Calvary Christian Assembly at 68th St. and Roosevelt Ave an informational open house will be held between 10:00 and noon. The meeting is sponsored by the Seattle Department of Planning and Development.
Of biggest concern to local residents is the proposed residential/commercial development at the intersection of 15th Ave NE and NE 65th St. The developers have indicated they intend to ask for zoning changes with heights up to 120 feet for the block immediately south of, and adjacent to Roosevelt High School.
The meeting starts at 10:00 AM, and then there will be a 30 minute introduction with Mark Troxel from DPD, John Adams from the Neighborhood Plan prioritization team and Jim O'Halloran with a bit of history on the plan. Then to follow will be sort of an open house with three main "stations"...one for
land use staffed by O'Halloran and Troxel; another with Seattle Dept. of Transportation and another general station for various City agencies staffed by Karen Ko of the Dept. of Neighborhoods.
The Roosevelt Neighborhood Alliance, Zoning Committee has spent years formulating a plan that would benefit the area with respect to the future light rail station and the concept of Roosevelt as an Urban Village. This well thought out plan seems to have been of little value to the property owner and the developers.
Please make it a point to drop by and find out how this proposed development may affect our neighborhood, and you.
