Seattle City Councilmen Bruce Harrell and Nick Licata toured the Roosevelt/Ravenna area Saturday morning as guests of Roosevelt Neighborhood Zoning Committee chairman Jim O'Halloran. The three along with a handful of neighborhood residents walked up NE 65th Street from the Bus Stop Espresso to 16th Ave NE.

Along the way the people from the neighborhood expressed their delight at the upcoming transit station but also voiced concerns that up-zoning properties, just because they have been allowed to deteriorate, may not be the best way to allow for more density in the neighborhood around NE 65th and 15th Ave NE.
We're all grateful that Licata and Harrell made themselves available, as did councilwomen Jean Godden and Sally Clark last month. Helping in the decisions of how our community will grow in meaningful and sustainable ways should be an important activity of every resident of the area.
It is expected that a private developer, the Roosevelt Development Group (RDG) will make formal application for a contract rezone of properties they have leased from land owner Hugh Sisley later this week. More on that once the document is made public.
