A group of neighbors concerned about development in the area of NE 65th and 15th AVE NE contacted Shelley Bolser of the Seattle Department of Development recently. She provided the following update. RDG Rezone The Scoping Report for the Environmental Impact Study is not yet completed. Work is progressing very slowly, may be done in a month, but could be later. It seems like the local real estate market is behaving in a wave pattern. June appeared pretty robust with a few quick sales and then more homes on the market. But the heat seemed to dissipate into the atmosphere. Hot days predominated July but no new sales were reported in the Park. On the flip side, there has been increased activity in the office, unusual for August, and I'm anticipating, if not in Ravenna Park, at least in Seattle, we'll see an above average number of sales when we take a look in early September. ...

While I was away on vacation there was some housing improvements made in the area across from Roosevelt High School. On the southwest corner of 14th Ave NE and NE 66th Street another derelict house was removed. A new ordinance has been proposed in Seattle that will make it likely that more buildings that are beyond repair will be removed. Current regulations were made with a mindset that it is always cheaper to rehabilitate a property that is falling apart, than to build a new one.
